Untangling my Malaise

Iʻve been experiencing a mental dullness lately. Unsettled. Restless. Out of sorts. Trying to untangle this malaise, the idea of “ontological design” popped out of the file cabinet of my random memory. Years ago, I was obsessed with philosopher/filmmaker Jason Silva, who made several videos about these ideas.

Ontological Design is based on the idea that the ways in which we shape the world, in turn shapes us back. We become everything that we are immersed in. It implies that you can gain more control over your moods, your attitudes, your creativity, your productivity, and what you do in the world if you are intentional about how your world is designed.

Is Adapting Really the Healthiest Option?

Those of us who do not have a whole lot of say in the design of the building or space in which we live or work may not embrace the idea of ontological design. We choose to make do with what we can afford, what we are stuck with. We have a passive mindset. We pat ourselves on the back for adapting, for being adaptable. For being patient.
